About the IBWG

The Illinois Biomass Working Group is comprised of farmers, businesses, universities, and public agencies that meet to share information and collaborate to advance biomass energy in Illinois. The group helps link farmers and businesses of many types to form complete biomass supply chains and to promote collaborative efforts among the private sector, public researchers, and regulators.

Growing Prairie for Forage, Bioenergy, & Conservation - Field Day

Presentations will include two case studies of growing prairie grasses and forbs for conservation and biomass heating, and discussion of Illinois research and on-farm demonstrations of prairie grasses. Information will be provided about technical assistance and financial incentives available to landowners for planting prairie plants for multiple benefits. The day will end with a tour of the “Prairie for Bioenergy” demonstration plots managed by the Agricultural Watershed Institute on land owned by Caterpillar Inc. in Decatur.
